a stereotype + a brand + fake narrative = bad advertainment

bad advertainment from banana republic

so i just ran across this via a banner on imeem’s home page. seemed like a cool concpet, city music. then they throw a shirt randomely in the mix, so inconspiculously yelling BUY BUY BUY. this is just wrong. if you want to tell me a story, i’ll listen to a great, mysterious, intriguing story, but switch and bait.

web without words

guess that website #1guess that website #2

guess that website #3guess that website #4

I found this website recently, that produces a wireframe of popular sites. pretty interesting. I am use to working the reverse, being given wireframes and working them into designs, so this is amusing. I’m working on a big corporate redesign right now, so it’s pretty timely to see these.

also, can you guess the sites wireframed above? Answers are in the links.
